Funding
The lab was established with generous funding from:
-
The Neurological Foundation of New Zealand: the two year Philip Wrightson Postdoctoral Fellowship to Dr Michael MacAskill.
-
The Canterbury Medical Research Foundation: a project grant of $NZD 62 665 to purchase equipment necessary to establish the lab.
Both grants were to support the investigation of motor learning in virtual environments in people with Parkinson’s disease, a series of experiments currently underway.
Ongoing funding to support the operations of the lab is via a NZ Science & Technology Postdoctoral Fellowship to Dr Michael MacAskill from the Foundation for Research, Science & Technology. This funding is to support the extension of our previous work in motor learning to the domain of gait control and to continue basic research in eye movements.
